Today is the first day of May. I’ve taken the Me Made May ’15 pledge to wear one item that I’ve made at least five times a week.
I just wanted to show you what items I currently have in my closet that I’ve made.
These are my skirts:
- A grey raw silk skirt made from a tunic style dress my mother made for herself in the 1980’s. (I think this should qualify as a double Me-Made entry since two people have made this one garment for themselves.) I added the pockets and gave it an elastic waist band.
- Butterick Lisette pattern 6182 in olive twill.
- Girlfriends pattern “Fina” in a bright quilting cotton. (hemmed a little too short)
- Brand New – just finished yesterday: You Sew Girl pattern “A Line Skirt” in a medium-heavy cotton.
These are my tops:
- Butterick 4191 pattern sewn over 10 years ago in a cotton from the clearance table. I wear it a lot in the summer.
- Simplicity 2696 tunic pattern (sleeves are modified). Sewn over three years ago in cotton paisley. This is also worn a lot.
- Burda 7798 printed pattern in cotton parasol print. I wear this one a lot too.
- Burda 6968 printed pattern in fluid gold. I made it a couple of weeks ago for a disco themed party. Don’t know how much wear this will get but it was perfect for the party.
My one other garment I’ve made that is still in my closet. A Burda Moto jacket in a textured linen. The pattern was downloaded from BurdaStyle. I took the sew along that went with it. (I didn’t know it was their first ever sew along and it was not a good experience. I hope they have improved their sew alongs for current students)
It’s still cool and breezy here in the mountains so today I have put on my burgundy corduroys, my sleeveless parasol print top and a royal blue, wool, hoodie style sweater. I did it. Not so hard after all (I say on day one).
