I’m very grateful to have a space in the house I can leave my machines up and ready, that I can dedicate entire pieces of furniture to storing sewing notions and patterns, and that I can call my own even though the door stays open and the dog sleeps under the desk.
After two artist friends, with studios and workspaces of their own, asked to see my sewing room they both suggested I make a video showing you my sewing room.
“Well,” I thought, “I like to see how people work in their space; store their supplies. Maybe I will make a video of it.”
And I did. And here it is.
Welcome to my sewing room.
For more about the pegboard read this post. And read here for how to make the worktable surface.
Funny timing, really because as of next month I plan on switching rooms. My daughter just moved out of her slightly larger room to her own apartment and I thought it would be nice to have a little more space, maybe a desk deep enough to rest my elbows on. My only hesitation is her old room is on the street side of the house, it’s a sort of busy street, and I really would hate to have to put up curtains. I like to see the leaves on the trees, and the blue sky, or even the rain. We will see what happens.
I LOVE the tour of your sewing room! I am always curious to see how other sewists organize their space. My wish list is to have a work table some day! I use the kitchen floor for cutting and the ironing board for piecing.
Thanks. I could never use my kitchen floor – it’s way too dirty.
